The submarine is now a museum which is the first of its kind in the subcontinent.

The entire submarine has been hauled up from the sea to the shore and positioned on concrete foundation for public viewing.  Minor modifications have been carried out on the submarine  so as to faithfully depict the life on board Indian submarines. The museum has exhibits which portray the genesis and evolution of submarine arm, chronicled through photographs, written scripts and artifacts.
